The Sofia Art Projects festival was held from June 10 to 18 with the motto “Intimacy and spectacle in the age of social media”. It was attended by 11 foreign and Bulgarian artists and curators. The festival was held in Largo in Sofia.
This is a very radical attempt to show art in a public environment, the curator Vessela Nozharova commented to BNR. According to her, the festival was provoked by the period of isolation, restrictions and distance due to the Clovid-19 pandemic.
“I can say that our desire to be among people has become much more painful and our need to have contact with art, with emotional manifestations in the modern world, has become much more painful. In a sense, I think we will analyze our feelings – what happened to us after more than a year in a covid-situation. “
The festival featured works that fit into the environment, have a provocation to the historical past of Bulgaria, to the architecture of Largo, said Nozharova.
