The presence of female professionals in feature European TV productions varies from less than 10% (only 8% are female composers or operators) to over 40% (producers, leading roles). In 2021, 37% of feature TV episodes were created by female writers, but only 22% were directed by women.
The low proportion of women in some key industry roles is the result of multiple factors. The overall number of women in the industry has nevertheless been gradually increasing since 2015, albeit at a very slow pace.
