Maria Bakalova is the first Bulgarian actress to be nominated for an Oscar. The actress will compete in the category for supporting female role for her role in the movie Borat 2.
Other nominees in the category include Glenn Close, Olivia Colman, Amanda Seyfried and Youn Yuh-jung. Apart from the nomination for an actress in a supporting role, Borat 2 received one more nomination – for an adapted screenplay.
Best film nomination went to Father, Mank, Nomadland, Minari, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Judas and the Black Messiah.
The Oscar ceremony will take place on April 25.
