We have been expecting Oxygen by French director Alexandre Aja with great impatience and hope, but unfortunately, the first teaser failed to inspire us beyond the original interest (provoked by the concept and genre of the project) that we had for the film. Now the same thing happens with the full trailer – it doesn’t really disappoint us, but it doesn’t inspire us in any way.
We remind you that Oxygen is written by Christie LeBlanc and tells the story of a woman (Melanie Laurent) who wakes up in a cryogenic chamber, without remembering who she is or how she ended up in this situation. While she is running out of oxygen, she must regain her memory and find a way out of this nightmare.
There is really nothing more to say. We were going to be super excited, it’s still a movie, you fall into two of our favorite categories (science fiction and thriller), but we’re not. What we see comes to us too generic and fails to really provoke in us either tension or curiosity about the mystery. We hope that Oxygen will still offer some surprises and we will be happy in the end.
The premiere is on May 12 on Netflix.
