Discussion with the Team Behind the Bulgarian Film Festival in Paris

The upcoming conversation about  Bulgarian culture and life abroad with part of the team of the Bulgarian Film Festival in Paris will provide an opportunity for a live online meeting from France.

The conversation will take place on February 25, 2021 at 18:30 with a duration of one hour and the opportunity for questions and comments from the audience online. The invitation to the organizers of the festival is from the host of the series of conversations with young Bulgarians abroad – Maria Badjakova. Live online meetings are part of the VRATA Homecoming initiative, which seeks answers to the question of the extent to which young Bulgarians around the world perceive themselves as part of the Bulgarian cultural sphere.

Guests of the upcoming conversation are actress, director and playwright Desislava Milanova – co-founder and artistic director of the festival, who has lived in France for 12 years, and Rumena Ivanova – certified cultural anthropologist, author of documentary ethnographic cinema, who has studied and worked for years. in Berlin, Prague, Riga, Moscow and Paris – one of the new faces in the team for the upcoming festival edition 2021.

The conversation will take place on the Instagram profile of the initiative @vrata.space with the opportunity for questions and comments in real-time. 

The conversation with the Parisian guests will present another point of view for the choice of young Bulgarians around the world between life and career in Bulgaria or their development as Bulgarian professionals abroad, ensuring the development of the Bulgarian cultural sphere and their “return” to it.

The initiative belongs to the co-founder of the Varna-based Amorpha Youth Foundation – Maria Badjakova, who has been organizing numerous events for thirteen years, actively engaging young people before and after leaving the country. With the support of the National Culture Fund, the VRATA Homecoming platform has already met the audience with young Bulgarian artists in South Korea, Germany, Austria and China. After the Paris meeting this week, there will be more talks with guests from Colombia-Argentina, Vienna and London.
