Four impressive art events, united in a festival format Made at the Academy, for the first time fully represent the creative potential of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev ”- Plovdiv (AMDFA): classical music, jazz, dance, fine arts and folklore. Students and teachers, leading names in Bulgarian contemporary art will show their talent on different stages and locations. Since 2021, Made At the Academy has become part of the cultural calendar of the Municipality of Plovdiv as a polyphonic multi-genre product of artists from all faculties and specialties of AMDFA – one of the most prestigious universities in the arts in Bulgaria.
Made at the Academy starts at the Roman Stadium on June 8 at 18.00 with the documentary exhibition “The Architectural Wealth of the Academy”, by Prof. Dr. Galina Lardeva and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Gyoshev. The history of the buildings in which the specialties of the academy are housed today is traced on mobile constructions – the famous Yellow School; The central building, located next to the ancient theater, the work of one of the first women architects in Bulgaria – arch. Винарова; the beautiful Slaveykov school, where Petko R. Slaveykov taught; the artistic Green School; the building on Saborna Street, the work of arch. Joseph Schneiter et al. The exhibition will last until the end of June.
Two hours later, at 8 pm, also at the Roman Stadium, the Academic Opera House with artistic director Assoc. Prof. Plamen Parvanov raises the curtains for the premiere in front of the Plovdiv audience of Jacques Offenbach’s operetta “Ba-ta-clan” with conductor Alia Hanse and director Ivaylo Mikhailov.
The next day – June 9, from 18.00, the halls for temporary exhibitions of the City Art Gallery at 15 Knyaz Alexander I Batenberg Street open their doors for the representative Annual Exhibition of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Academy, which presents all specialties: graphic design and photography, pedagogy of teaching fine arts, scenography, photography, clothing design, wall painting, painting, graphics, sculpture, etc. As every year, the awarded students will be announced in the annual student competition.
The same evening at 20.30 the Academy gathers Plovdiv residents and guests of the city of the Ancient Theater for the culmination of the festival – the Representative Concert “The Academy invites Plovdiv” with the participation of the Student Choir, Ensemble of Modern Dance Techniques, Academic Folk Choir, Academic Folklore Ensemble, Academies orchestra, Gaudeamus Academic Mixed Choir, Student Pop and Jazz Formation at AMDFA “Prof. Asen Diamandiev ”, Intro Quartet and many other performers.
As the most important educational and cultural institution in Plovdiv, AMDFA has the ambition to turn the Made at the Academy festival into an annual and constantly renewed art forum, where the audience will become a sympathetic witness to the Academy’s success in training future artists and shaping their qualities. in a natural scenic public environment.
