For the 18th time Varna brings together the magic of world animation. In the Festival and Congress Centre, young and old will immerse themselves in an ocean of pictures and light until 11 September. The jury is made up of prominent experts whose films will be shown only in Varna, within the festival. Dhwani Desai from India, Karin Vindenried from Belgium, Georges Schwitzgebel from Switzerland, Pedro Serrazina from Portugal are the foreign presence of the judges in different categories of competition films: shorts, features, children, students and TV series. Bulgarian musician Angel Zaberski, who opened the official part of the festival ceremony with music, also belongs to this serious group of capacities.
Viewers have the opportunity to see exhibitions of different creative generations: students of the NBU, works by Vera Doneva and Ivan Veselinov. Workshops are again organized for children. The children’s favorite speaker is here again. The other guest is Fernando Galarito, director of the Monstra Festival in Lisbon, Portugal. Together with him is Radostina Neykova – teacher and creator of children’s animation, and the newest module is by two NBU alumni artists Velislava Gospodinova and Ioana Atanasova. All the participants in the workshops will have their premiere on the evening of the award ceremony – 11 September.
Free lecture modules, panoramas in memory of Vera Doneva, Vitko Boyanov and Apostol Stoyanov and many more interesting premieres in the world of short and feature films await their connoisseurs in Varna!
The festival opened with a well-organized ceremony, which was mainly attended by sympathetic student translators, a jury that showered the Varna audience with smiles and of course the driving force of the festival – Professor Henri Kulev. We wish the adult festival the creative daring and the courage to be the different event of Varna!
